History

In 2002, Community Addictions Management Programme (CAMP) was launched by the Institute of Mental Health. CAMP managed to treat 1000 patients per year in its first five years. The National Addictions Management Service was founded in August 2008 to cope with the growing demand of individuals with addiction problems.

NAMS provides services that treat problem gambling and behavioral problems, such as internet and gaming addiction. They also treat substance addiction, like drugs and alcohol. The services they provide are:

Current Situation

Web presence

The NAMS does not have much web presence. A simple search on Google for help for problem gambling in Singapore yields only one result about the NAMS, and it is not prominently displayed at the top. Instead, it is somewhere at the bottom. In addition to not having any Web 2.0 components, like hosted services and web applications, they do not provide any new media tools. For example, they do not possess a Facebook group, and they do not have any animations on their website. However, they do allow you to download some educational files, meant to enlighten their possible clients on the symptoms of their problems.

is their website Effective and practical?

We feel that the website is effective and practical, because it is easy to find the gambling and addiction helplines. The website also provides a lot of information on the various types of addictions. It is also possible to download educational materials on gambling and other addictions.

However, they lack an email address, making it impossible to email them. We feel that this is bad, as it would make it more difficult for a potential client to contact them. We also understand that it might be difficult or embarrassing for someone with such problems to do a walk-in consultation or make a phone call. They might feel much better if they have an email address to write to.

is the Website up to date?

Yes. They have recently launched a new outpatient clinic in the IMH, and they have uploaded pictures on their website, presumably to show their potential clients the new facilities available.

What’s lacking

In our opinion, there are a few things lacking in this website. For example:

They lack flash animations
They do not possess any form of social media. They have no links to Facebook, Twitter, etc.
They do not have live chat, where some members of staff communicate with potential clients via instant messaging.
It is currently impossible to contact them via email, because they do not show it prominently on their website. They do not even have a “Contact Us” page.
They do not use good grammar.

About NAMS

The National Addictions Management Service (NAMS) was incorporated in Aug 2008. Located at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), NAMS includes the Specialist Outpatient Clinic C (SOC C) as its outpatient arm, and the inpatient Serenity Centre, which provides residential detoxification and rehabilitation.

NAMS treats problem gambling and other behavioural addictions (internet, gaming, etc), and substance addictions (alcohol and drugs). Services include:

i will be doing a review of the article about commerenrce search for retailers.

First of all this brings a totally new stage to blogshop and online shoppping,Google new commerence search gives many online entrepreneur alot of chances to earn more money and now even to expand their businesses.It also now introduces a new way of online shopping,sort through the items that retailers are also selling online.Now that google has come out with this new technolgy,many online bogshop will have a boost ib sales. Now that google has invented this new function online has been so much easier. this cause google to earn more money due to more advertising cost for retailers to pay and google will get more and more popular

overall i think this new function that google invented is quite useful as it makes online shopping so much easier and convienent. Furthermore its so much so faster now to do online shopping.when a user uses google to search for the product it so much easier and faster.Moeover the search engine now can be utilised and ensure faster searching of the products.
